This photograph was taken from the light booth at the Music Hall in Boston. I had to ask Nureyev for permission to take photographs during the performance. He said okay.

That was only the second time I had met him. The first time was in 1966 when he was touring the US with the Royal Ballet.  I went backstage after a breathtaking performance with Margot Fonteyn in "Swan Lake" at the Hollywood Bowl and had the opportunity to meet both Nureyev and Fonteyn.
